Great bread & Italian pastries Ordered Lasagna but they were out - wot Italian restaurant runs out of lasagna by 3pm - not good. Some pizzas were also not available because "one of the cooks didn't show up". Not good. Manicotti was ok, sauce was ok. Warm & cozy dining area. Good, friendly service. I'll return for the pastries, cookies & bread but not so sure about eating there.

Food was great - Service was atrocious! Our waiter, young man, tall with glasses was horrible, hence why he received a tip that reflected his level of service. After flagging him down after we placed our order, to add a cup of soup, his question us with an abrupt "Do you want something?" He never checked on us after our entrees were served. I tried to get his attention in hopes of ordering another glass of wine but, he was too busy texting on his phone and making himself a root beer float to pay attention to us. We had to eat our dinner surrounded by empty bread and oil plates, empty water bottle, empty soup bowl, and all other dishes that had accumulated pre-entree. We never did get anymore water and were unable to ask for more as he never came back. When we went to the counter to pay our bill and select some pastries to take home for desert, he was too busy talking to the other staff about who was going to take the large party that walked in, to even focus on his customer that was standing in front of him. When I finally got his attention to get my last pastry, a Raspberry Twist (one of my favs), I asked him to select one that was not too burnt on the bottom. He quickly told me "I can't taste the burnt part so they're fine." Needless to say, he received a $2 cash tip on our table. To top of the evening, as we were walking to our car, he hit the window at us. Yes, there were customers inside just feet away from him. All in all, we have enjoyed the food here for many years but the service is going downhill. Might be time to find a new local Italian place.... Oh yeah, as we tried to call in to speak with a manager or owner, the phone range busy for a long time after.

Vincenza's has the setting to be a trusted neighborhood ethic eatery: it's in the Italian part of town, nestled in a residential neighborhood, and it's old. The painting, décor, bathrooms, tables and chairs, silverware... all indicate it's been in business for a long time. So that's promising! Plus they're rolling out deals every which way (hopefully this indicates business is good, not the other way around). We stepped foot in the restaurant at 2 on a Saturday afternoon, there were still quite a few diners. Going towards the baked goods counter, we were immediately attracted to the Pizza Grossa in its entirety, it's so huge it almost looked fake! As soon as we were seated (it's open seating which I liked) I said I wanted to try a slice of that pizza! As if she knew we were so hungry we couldn't possibly even wait for them to reheat a slice of pizza, the lady server said she'll bring us some bread, sweet! The basket of sliced ciabatta was brought out warm with a plate of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. I was in bread heaven! It's one of the best ciabatta I've had in years! Was it just because I was super hungry? Read on! My plan was for hubby to order the Italian Sausage Sandwich which was voted Westword's best in its category. And on top of my pizza, I'll add an order of 3 meatballs. But why would he listen to my plan, right? He said he wanted the Half and Half pasta dish. At the same time my pizza was ready and in my face. We were shocked again! A single slice is probably twice as big as a New York style slice and those are usually big slices! So forget about 3 meatballs, we just ordered the pasta with one added meatball. The pizza was a nice vegetarian option, but I think they overcooked the spinach. I see it now, dough is their specialty. I would just ask for more marinara sauce, twist off parts of the crust so I can dip it. Their marinara sauce is different than what I'm used to from Americanized Italian restaurants (think Olive Garden). It's not quite as red and sweet, more on the orange and savory side. The Half and Half pasta consisted of half linguini and half cheese filled ravioli. Nothing too special. But the meatball is! Again, it's different from a typical western meatball, definitely denser. Everything was hunky dory until I went to pay for the food. I did mention when I ordered that I'd like to take some baked goods home. The lady server kept asking what I wanted, but you see, I wanted to use my Living Social voucher to pay for lunch and ask hubby to pay for take-outs with his Yelp check-in offer which is a free macaroon with any purchase! Our food came to a perfect $20 before tax and tip, yet I was told in order to use the $20 Living Social voucher, it has to be over $20 with tax. You see where the conflict is? It's as simple as just paying the $1.34 tax out of pocket and I was prepared to do that! But no, she did something to the register and I was charged $3.70 which includes tax and a drink that I never got! I insisted she was wrong, she insisted I don't understand. After a while, the guy that seems to be the owner came in and solved everything. Turned out I was right! Of course she gave me unfriendly looks but that's OK, that'll be the reason to keep me from coming back. Hubby dropped another $20 on baked goods, we're not cheap people, just playing by the rules! I didn't see any cannolis (probably all sold out, bummers) but I knew I wanted the pignolis, they're so good! The elephant ear is one big pastry but not with a lot of flavor. The short bread like ricotta cookie dipped in chocolate and the macaroon are both OK. The 3 colored rainbow cookies are soft and almond-y, my new favorite! Of course I got a loaf of ciabatta too, even after 2 days at home, it's still good, so it wasn't just because I was hungry! ;-)

I love their tortellini Genovese and all of their pasta dishes look amazing. My husband enjoyed his lasagna, and I got manicotti on my second trip, which was also very tasty. This is a great family-run restaurant. I will say that I prefer the sweet baked goods at another close-by Italian bakery much better. The pasta dishes here are most excellent for takeout!

I stopped in for macaroons for a dinner party. I'd had them once before and remembered them being moist and delicious. This time was no different. They were really fresh and totally hit the spot. I did try the rainbow cookie and it was so dry, it fell apart. I'll stick with the macaroons even though they are not gluten free.

In my life-long quest for good Italian Subs, I stopped in and had the Meatball. It was tasty and filling. Bread was on the modest size...I would rather have sauce on the sandwich- rather than on the side, but it was a good one, nonetheless. The mandatory chips on the side is something I have a hard time with..."If I want em' I will buy em" is my philosophy on chips.. Very nice people, overall!!

Came in for lunch last week on a Monday; it was not busy, not dead. I was greeted immediately by a very friendly host/cashier. Sat in the back dining room where smells of fresh baked bread were abundant and amazing. Ordered the cheesesteak sandwich, which was great, and extremely reasonably priced at less than $10 for the sandwich plus bread with balsamic/oil, salad and side. Food was out in less than 10 minutes. Can't overstate how great the bread was. Will definitely go back for lunch.

Looks like a hole-in-the-wall, but the inside is cute and cozy. We arrived for an early dinner (so early that we were the only ones there), and the waiter was so friendly he bordered on being officious. We enjoyed the lasagna with Italian sausage and the linguine with a homemade meatball. The flavors were simple but delicious, with the linguine yielding enough for two full meals. We picked up some raspberry twists (not sure what they're really called) on the way out and weren't disappointed! Worth a shot if you're in the neighborhood.

It all started on a Sunday afternoon when we decided to have ravioli for dinner at home. Called Vincenza's and asked: "Do you sell frozen ravioli?" and was told: "Yes." Good. Off we went. Bought a baguette. It is very tasty. Happy. Bought a raspberry twist for tomorrow's breakfast. (Slightly burnt on the bottom. OK.) Got a free macaroon for checking in with Yelp. Yea! Friendly people. But, the pound of frozen (not made there) ravioli was $15. They ripped us off and that will discourage us from ever going there again. By comparison, Tony's charges $6 for John's Ravioli and St Kilian's has fancy ravioli for $11.

This was a quaint little place for dinner. I felt weirdly like i was in a warehouse or garage due to the set up of dining tables in a room adjoining the bakery. The food was good, and service was friendly. I think it might have been a week day evening so there were few other diners and the place was quiet.

Wonderful northern Italian bakery and general Italian food. In old Wheat Ridge Dairy---- for those few who remember old Denver and Wheat Ridge. Staff are friendly. Pizza by slice for lunch is tasty. But soup and sausage rolls are very good. Have likely eaten every bakery item they make at one time or another. Every item is super!

Half and half lunch special for only $6.50 was more than filling! I thoroughly enjoyed my Italian Cold Cut. I know it's just a sandwich, but it reminded me of my little Italian Pappy. My other half was a small lunch pasta. It was nothing special, and I remember thinking my meatball, while delicious, didn't have any pizazz. I gobbled up my eclair immediately, and the amaretti cookie was really good. It doesn't have any flare on the shelf, but definitely get one of these. Our waitress kept running around saying "I'm really sorry about the wait" but I really didn't think she was any slower than most of the lunch stops we go to. Although, she didn't bring out our garlic bread until we already had our meals, but she was thoughtful enough to comp it for us. About that garlic bread - not for the faint of heart! I'm not a big garlic eater, and I had to stop and cringe for a moment while my mouth was on fire. But for my garlic loving friend, it was great! I will definitely come here again, and likely gain a lot of weight eating their cookies. the macaroons look fabulous, and I'll definitely be checking in on yelp next time to get my free one.

I have only one word to start this off, disappointing! I went with a friend for lunch and we both decided on the lasagne because it was snowing and if seemed we were craving comfort food. I'm guessing it was warmed up in a microwave, it wasn't heated all the way through and the flavor was missed by a mile, I'm not sure what was in the sauce but it had quite a twang. Had I not been so hungry I would have sent it straight back but I was on a time constraint also. I think I may have gotten a piece of meat in one but but wasn't quite sure. To top it off, the manager came out to help our waitress check us out because she didn't know how to punch I the groupon that we had. He had zero customer service and actually said out loud, "oh goody, they didn't spend one cent more than the coupon". Hellooooo, if you don't want people to use it, don't participate! You could tell the waitress felt bad for his comments and she told him that we also purchased $10 worth of his pastries, that didn't help his bast demeanor! The only nice thing about this meal was the bread and it was really full of flavor. Kudos to our waitress as she was very pleasant and God bless her for having to put up with Mr, I don't have a personality!

For those of you who enjoy Vincenza's, I say more power to you. This review is reflective of my lone experience and can be taken as such. We went as a family group to celebrate a birthday. When we arrived I commented to my fiancé that I really liked the look of the place and was hopeful for a nice meal. We walked in and the hostess said they had set up a table in the back for our party of six. While this seemed like a nice gesture (more to come) it was hardly necessary as there was only one other table occupied in the entire restaurant. When we sat down, we noticed a rather loud and consistent noise. At first I assumed it was a washing machine that wasn't level but when we asked it was explained that this was their bread machine and the pounding we were hearing was the dough slamming against the side of the bowl. Mind you, I don't need silence or a pristine environment to enjoy my meal but I would be doing you all a dis-service not to say that this machine was incredibly loud. It certainly lessened the overall dining experience. But this was just the start. When we opened our menu we were quick to notice that one of the dishes on their menu was an award winning "Best of Denver" item as deemed by the Rocky Mountain News. Regretfully, the Rocky Mountain News stopped publishing in 2009. I'm thinking maybe it's time to update the menu. After the chuckle that this provided, our waiter (apologies to those waiters who take their roles seriously) such as he was, came to take our orders. His lack of knowledge of the menu or anything else for that matter became apparent rather quickly. One of our party order Veal Marsala and the waiter had to come over to look at the menu because, as he stated, he didn't know how to spell it... WOW. A couple of our party ordered a Chianti from the wine list of 5 items, only to be told after more than 15 minutes later that the restaurant was out of that particular vintage. Again, in and of itself, not a huge deal, but when you are only listing 5 wines, you would think it would be relatively simple to remember what's on hand. One thing I will complement the restaurant on was their bread. Yes, it was loud to make, but it tasted great! On our orders, two of us ordered soup and one ordered salad as appetizers. The salad was delivered prior to the entrée however the soups arrived after. Not exactly "Dining 101". Of the entrées, the overall reaction as to taste was... "eeeh". Not awful per se`, perhaps best described as mediocre. That said, two of the six entrées were not exactly what people actually ordered. So that leads us to the following... Ambiance - D (would have been a solid B but for the bread machine) Service - F (I know it probably sounds more like a D, but you had to be there) Food Quality - D (and I'm truly being generous here) Food Accuracy - D (and again, I'm being generous) So our dinner was over, and some folks were hoping for something sweet to top of the lackluster meal we had just experienced. Remember, this place is also a Bakery and they had a display up front. Some of their items actually looked VERY good. Okay, we took a chance - maybe the meal was bad, but their baked goods are going to be great, right? Our group ordered a couple of cookies, a couple of cannoli's and two pieces of cheese cake. Yes, they looked VERY good. Good lord they were awful. Easily the worst cheese cake I have ever tasted. Dry as the Sahara, somewhat grainy and not even a good flavor as an attempt to save it. Those who ordered the Cannoli's were similarly underwhelmed. So I'm adjusting one of the grades above: Food Quality - F Again, I wanted to like Vincenza's. Unfortunately, I just couldn't. Continued good luck to those who do however - may your good fortune continue!

I'm not sure why there are bad reviews - I have been to Vincenza's on several occasions and have always had a good experience but I'm also certain that if I did have a subpar experience the owner/staff would be willing to make it better. My favorite items on the menu are the Penne and Broccoli (they'll let you substitute spinach), the Chicken and Eggplant Parms, and most recently, the Penne Picchi Picchiu -- holy capers Batman! Yes, I do enjoy a good/light white wine sauce and this sauce had just the right amount of basil, garlic, and capers. I actually asked for more Ciabatta bread to soak-up the remaining sauce. Now I have to agree that service can be hit or miss but the current lunch server does a excellent job. Our waters and beverages were kept full and we were free to talk and didn't feel pressured to leave. This is exactly the type of restaurant I like to come to with a group of people, where we talk, eat, and enjoy the company without needing to be entertained by the server. I was able to use the $20 for $35 Yelp deal, which also helped when the bill arrived. I have never been displeased with the cleanliness of this restaurant. I realize that Vincenza's is not a white table cloth restaurant. To give you a barometer I actually grew up eating at a restaurant called the Riviera (The Riv) in Glendale, which had amazing Mexican food. There, I can still remember drying the table with my sleeve and having a moist feeling on my bottom about 2 minutes after being seated. Vincenza's fits between the Riv and Elway's but leans a little toward the Riv side. I am always between 3 and 4 stars for this restaurant. I am going with 4 stars today because I absolutely love the cookies, and I do mean, all the cookies. I'm not really sure how much they cost but they do seem a little expensive, and I'm not really sure if that is because I'm getting older or because they are. I do know that if I could get a couple dozen for 6-8 bucks (.25-.33 per cookie) I would do an amaziing cookie monster impression using 6 of those wonderful marzipan cookies.

Very Disappointing. I love Italian and this place is not it. Ordered Sausage Calzone and it was mostly onions and peppers, very little sausage. Minestrone soup very salty. Extremely cheap on the side of sauce (teeny little cup). Charge a few bucks more and put out a decent product. Price was $8.95 - So far, this would probably be my last choice in the area.

So very painful! Food not horrible, a little cool , maybe sat in the window too long. The service was punishing. Could we please get water, please. And the two soups we ordered , please. And cheese and red peppers ,please. And now there are two new tables, please ,don't forget us. Don't you love going out , begging and then being charged . Is there no management , no training , no pride in ownership. Please, close your doors and walk away. Like your customers just say "uncle".

Here I am monday 2pm waiting for our food and as I look around I think I should have went somewhere else . 2 wait staff 5 customers including us.. and a few dirty tables . Our waiter handed us menus and commented on the dried red sauce on the lunch special menu. laughed and said he would have to clean it ..but it sat on our table the whole time . I watched the other waiter go to the bread oven and as he waited he ran his fingers ( both hands ) through his hair and wipe his face then grab some sliced bread putting it from one hand to the other and then into a bread basket he served to a customer ..I spoke with the owner and he acted like I was over re acting . He spoke to the waiter and within a couple minutes the guy went back to waiting his table with water and still didn't wash his hands !!! The place was just dirty top to bottom , light fixtures , ceiling fan , floor ect.. If this is seen by customers I hate to think what goes on in the kitchen where we can't see !! I used a resturant .com coupon for a discount and still feel cheated ..I really don't know how people see these types of things and want to eat here not me ever again .. as for the food ? For what they charge maybe they could hire a cleaning crew ..if you want a good calzone. Go to famous pizza, ellsworth & Broadway or patsy s 36th &tejon. The whole time I thought maybe they had a very busy lunch and was behind catching up .... BUT I DON'T THINK THAT WAS THE CASE ! Ps how does a place like this run out of olive oil ?

Sad to see some of the poor reviews. I had great and congenial service, an A+++ calzone. The crust was perfection! The sauce is perfect for me, not too acidic. It also came with a side of delicious Minestrone soup, old fashioned and home made. The bakery is top notch. The chewy chocolate dipped macaroons are perfect. AND, I love the old art deco building which was originally a dairy. So this isn't designed to be a sports center, but I was there on a Sunday and they had the game on a 19" tube TV. It may be picayune. but spend the $400 for a 40" flat screen.... But overall, a great spot with an old school vibe. Recommend!

Love this place..Probably the only place I tried for authentic Italian food. I love the Shrimp, muscle, and calmari al pactori, idk how you spell it..but it's really good! Minus one star because it's alittle too much salt for my liking.

We frequent this place for great sandwiches and italian dishes and our service is usually par. We usually sit in the well-lit front of the building. Last week we sat in the back portion of the restaurant and our waitress was running around like a mad woman apologizing that there had been a "previous" rush, but at the time there were only a couple customers. She couldn't stay still long enough to talk to us, kept saying she'd get us bread only to get focused on other chores, and when our food did come she went out for a smoke. Save the uppers for after work. Food was great but service really let us down.

A really good Italian market/deli/bakery. I love the delicious Italian sandwiches they have here complete with a zesty vingerette and pepperocinis, just the way I like it. The bakery is really good...love the canoli and homemade tiramisu. I've always found their prices reasonable. They are also a good place to go for Italian cooking supplies. Love the great pizza dough they have here and the homemade sauce you can get. The service is what you'd expect from a small business like this, generally fairly welcoming and appreciative of their customers. Not the fanciest restaurant ever, but it is pretty good all around. Definitely worth checking out.

We took family there tonight to celebrate a birthday. We have not been there for a little over a year, but had really good food and a great experience. It was always upbeat, tho a little corny! Tonight's experience will be our last. We got there about 6pm and there was one other couple in the whole place. We got seated pretty quickly and got water, drinks and bread. Some of the bread was sliced from a hoagie roll, and some from a regular bread loaf. Dipping oil and vinegar, not good. We ordered and got our food fairly quickly, but surprised that instead of linguini they substituted spaghetti. Maybe not a big deal, but they failed to mention they had run out, let us choose. And worse in an italian restaurant is to overlook the pasta! Soft! My eggplant parm was greasy and pasty tasting. Very very under seasoned and not nice and hot! My DH had shrimp scampi (with spaghetti) and thought it was very bland. We ordered the cannolis and they were soggy and must have been sitting there for a long time. We made the mistake of pumping this place up to the rest of the family and we were all so disappointed. It is not an inexpensive meal, especially considering the quality of the food and service. We were embarrassed for our recommendation, but it won't happen again! Save your time and money! Too bad, it used to be really fun and good.

Tonight my family was very excited to eat at Vincenza's bakery but what a disappointment. We were sort of greeted by a woman who said seat yourself so we did. We waited and waited when finally the waitress threw some menus on the table and took off. Needless to say she never came back, never offered us water and after about 15 minutes we left, walking right past our waitress who didn't even acknowledge us, What a disappointment! This is the second time we have had poor service here for dinner service. We also had poor service when stopping in once for dessert a few years ago. We will never go back!

My boyfriend and I thought the food was good, but not great, slightly overpriced for quality and quantity. The Berry Tiramisu was TO DIE FOR and I am planning to buy a whole one for my birthday instead of cake. We also took some other baked goods home and loved them. The waitress was great and the staff was patient with our temper-tantrum throwing 2 year-old. The tall guy at the register was a little rude to some people in front of me but the rest of the staff was very friendly. The food deserves 3 stars, baked goods deserve 4 stars, Berry Tiramisu deserves 5 stars.

We were visiting Boulder and stopped at a sandwich shop for lunch and found out that the bread was made at this bakery. We were leaving the next morning and decided to swing by and pick up a oaf for our trip northward. When we walked in, the placed seems so appealing that we decided to order to go since we were short on time. When we arrived at the hotel, we decided to give it a try. (We ordered the spinach stromboli and shrimp scampi). The stromboli seemed as though it had been premade into a large loaf and when needed, it was sliced off and heated. Although the portion was huge, I couldn't get over the fact that it had ZERO flavor. The shrimp scampi had 3 shrimp in the entire box and had so much garlic that it was inedible. Both ended up going in the trash. The bread was sub-par (not anything like the sandwich shop) and the two biscotti that I got for breakfast the next morning also left something to be desired. Will not be going back.

I was a huge disapiontment. A local Italian place. I thought it might have some charm that is missing from the Olive Gardens of the world. It did not. You are much better of going there. We were not greeted at the door. I hate that. We were finally seated in this slow restaurant. Ugh. They brought out some bread. It was great. That's why they got 2 instead of 1 star. I ordered a meatball sub. The meatballs were done the traditional way. They had no flavor though. Sad. The minestrone was soooo bland! I had to add a teaspoon or more of salt to a cup. Not a bowl. My girlfriends son ordered the alfredo. I do the best alfredo at my restaurants and at my house. So I am picky. My girlfriend and her son don't really know much about food. They like some crappy run of the mill stuff. This was the worst alfredo any of us have ever had. It was bland. It was watery. I was blown away. Everything we had was awful. No flavor was the way to explain everything. Soooo disappointed!

Most of the reviews on this great little neighborhood gem are about the dinner menu. It is the standard tomato sauce Italian, but the Linguini and Clams are the best I've had in Denver! Really terrific. I stopped by for breakfast this morning in response to signs outside. I was the first customer of the day so things weren't ready, but lone server was right on top of me as well as setting everything up. I had a classic Egg and Pepper sandwich with Mozzarella and onions! Perfect! I know of only one other place, also on the West Side, that serves this. My only complaint is the first cup of coffee was real weak, but it improved with the second. Service is A+ at all times. I've bought stuff from the bakery and it is also just great. The atmosphere is a bit dumpy, but the food and service more than make up for it. A great neighborhood joint.

We went here with a group of friends for lunch. The decor is a little dated, but still charming, and the service was polite and attentive. They were very accommodating of the small child we had with our group. I had the pizza, which was excellent and came in a large portion. My husband and the others had pasta, which was less impressive, but still acceptable. I think they are best with baked things. The sweets are plentiful and marvelous. Vincenza's is an excellent choice for cannoli. They also had some nice varieties of sweets I was unfamiliar with and I always enjoy an adventure.

Have passed by a few times as I don't live in the area. Tried some scrumptious sweets time, but the smell of the pizza made me want to try it for lunch. Didn't get the pizza, got the eggplant parm sandwich, was ok, my hubby had the Italian Sausage sandwich, it was ok. The marinara, ok, nothing really special. Our waitress was very nice, the place seems a bit grungy to me, dust all around. Will probably try it again, to give it a chance. The sweets up front, and the ginormous pizza are definitely welcoming but the food doesn't seem as special as they try to make it seem.

My husband and I wandered in a few months back and have been in again. No, it's not Magianos, but it's still good. The waitress remembers us, what we ordered the last time for entre' and dessert. The service is always prompt, always friendly and I love Frank singing Frank! Here you have locals meeting for food, good hospitality and some entertainment. I love the fresh bread, and the pasta I had, was hand made. Lots of olive oil. I love that the red sauces are not full of tomato paste, but are a nice fresh tomato and fresh spices. I loved my pink sauce, and the pracuitto wrapped around mozza was delicious, top it off with a bellini and I am in heaven. I always get a short stack of pizelles to take home. The tiramisu is good, I only wish they would leave out the berries, there is nothing better to me than a good rich and creamy tiramisu. The firecracker as they call them, is kind of like a cannoli covered in chocolate with nuts, but yes the filling is bland. This place started out as a bakery and that is the true gem. When you stop in, take home some bread!! I recommend this place to those who like simplicity and who are not so spoiled by mass market food chains.

This is a really nice family restaurant that is casual, friendly and has really great food. The pizza is excellent. The sausage roll is incredible, and the pastries and cookies are the best. Try it for a fun and relaxing evening. Very nice waitresses. Friendly and casual. Incredible pastries. And the sausage calzone is perfect. randy

Dined here on a weeknight. This place has great potential, and is doing a few things really well such as: Good inexpensive wine selection Incredible "spicy" mussels. The sauce was a garlic lover's paradise, so incredibly delicious our group was clamoring to get dibs on the last bit of sauce. Greek salad with chicken was really good, the balsamic dressing served with it was delicious. The not so good - when they first came by the waitress gave us "olive oil" and balsamic on a plate, which we noticed was really clear. Since olive oil should have an olive hue we asked her what type of oil it was, and she said it was soy based with some olive oil. So yeah, eww. Spend a couple of extra bucks and serve real olive oil, please. Ordered a brew and noticed that the "best by" date on the label was March of 2013. We were there in October of 2013. Their bread was mediocre as was the eggplant parmesan. Pretty decent red sauce. The waitress was super nice, super helpful, as was the manager. i love their space, too, it is huge, but sadly very few people were there. SInce they don't play music there it was creepily quiet. I asked them to turn on some music and they said then it would be too loud in the front and we still wouldn't be able to hear it. They have a ton of desserts up front which everyone said were incredible. I want this place to be great, and I think it could be!

An italian bakery? That's already a great thing...love the atmosphere here. There was a lounge singer on the weekends a few years ago, but I haven't been able to get back in there the days and times he's there. Great place for a date. Food isn't bad, sometimes comes out a little cold. Anything involving bread is amazing. The garlic bread on the menu can be a meal in itself. They also have a lunch buffet which is pretty good and their monstrous pizzas are great. It's a place I feel good with every time I walk in. Overall, great atmosphere and decent food. If you're snooty, however, go somewhere else. This place is for real people and if you're expecting to have the bottle of wine you chose because it's the oldest one on the list displayed to you where you can pretend you know what you're looking for by sniffing the cork and swirling the wine...yeah...go somewhere else.

So I really don't like giving 1 star reviews. I wanted to give 2 stars, but honestly, I will drive by this place to and from work probably 100 times in the next year, and I will never go in again. I wanted to get some goodies to bring home after working nearby, so I popped in. I checked Yelp beforehand and saw that most people agreed the baked goods were a safe bet. So I went in and saw a nice big display of all types of pastries. I was really excited, and decided on a chocolate nut bar filled with sweetened ricotta, a lobster claw, and a piece of the Sicilian pizza. There were prices on nothing except the pizza (in the whole display case that is). She rang me up and announced my total- $15.50. Over fifteen dollars for a piece of pizza ($2.5) and two pastries. Yes, the lobster claw is gigantic, but I would have happily chosen something smaller if they had an option, but they of course did not, which forced me to get four times the size I wanted. I unhappily forked over my debit card and left. In my car I started on the pizza, which had a dough the consistency of which I can compare only to dry sponge. Absolutely mouth-deadening. The sausage, (which they do not make) did not work at all with the sweet flavor of the sauce. There was way too much cheese and not enough sauce to make up for the parching effect of the crust. Although Sicilian pizza is not what the normal American is used to, as it is more like Foccacia dough, this crust would have never stood on its own as bread, and if it wouldn't stand on its own, it shouldn't be standing at all. The lobster claw, once in a box and not in a display case, was literally sopping wet on the bottom. The pastry had dissolved into a floury paste because of how long the pastry had been absorbing the liquid from the cheese filling. The top shell, instead of crispy and flaky, was so hard it was impenetrable and tasted like refrigerator. The filling was chunky and old tasting. The ricotta-filled nut and chocolate bar had a nice exterior, which tasted like toffee, but the filling was so bland and under-seasoned it wasn't worth eating. After three bites I discovered a hair in it. Now, while I normally don't care about hair on food, this hair was IN the food. Embedded deeply into the nut/chocolate layer, all the way into the cheese mixture, and was almost impossible to remove. That, combined with the unpleasant flavor of the filling, made it totally unappetizing. It's a shame, since this place is on the way home, but I will never be returning.

It's exactly the kind of Italian place I was looking for. Simple, no frills, delicious. Being an ovo-lacto vegetarian, I usually have only 1 or 2 choices max on a menu to choose from, but there were actually quite a few items on the menu for me. I asked the waitress and she recommended the Gnocchi, or the Pasta Diavolo (very spicy) and I chose the Diavolo. Yum. I planned to take 1/2 of it home, but it was so good, I ate the whole thing. My husband said his Lasagna was VERY good. We both loved the Ciabatta bread. The vinaigrette on the house salad was great. The wedding cookies - were awesome. I'll certainly be going back to eat again!

I have a love/hate relationship with Vicenza's. The second to last time I visited I used a coupon through JeffcoCoupons.com , which is a great deal - 19.95 linguini bucket, 5 meats (meatball, sausage or combination) and bread. The pro's were the bucket serves about 6-7, bread is great - chewy and hearty, I believe it was a ciabatta bread. The con which I feel trumps the pro's was that the noodles in the bucket were the thin spaghetti style vs the thick linguini. My father grew up in 'little Italy' of Colorado, Louisville, CO so he's used to Colacci's (sad day when they closed) and Blue Parrot type of noodles, so when we got home to find this thin pasta it was dreadful. Not to mention we don't live close enough where I can just come back to return it. This past Friday we decided to try Vincenza's again. Once again I printed a coupon off, this time I read it closely, it actually says pasta bucket and below that linguini noodles but just to make sure I mentioned to the server I would like the thick noodles vs the spaghetti type. In addition to the 5 meats (I ordered 5 sausages) I also ordered 3 meatballs, 2 doz pizzelles and 1/2 doz Italian wedding cookies. Before the server was to pack up my bucket I asked to see the noodles, she gave me a plastic fork to reveal my THIN noodles, yes spaghetti noodles. Once again I expressed to her I would like the THICK noodles. The server let the cook know to switch out my noodles. Then I beleive manager - possibly the owner came around the corner where the server said she was given the wrong noodles, he responded did she ask for the linguini, she responded back yes and he said back to her did you write it down and she said she did. After the second bucket was filled the server gave me another fork to inspect, there I find 3 meatballs and 2 sausages - missing my 3 other sausages. After mentioning my missing meats a second server said lucky you checked, they're normally not like this, wherein I said once again that I don't live near the restaurant where I can just easily come back if there was a problem. 1st Vincenza's please read your coupons, if it says spaghetti serve the patron spaghetti, if it says linguini serve your customers linguini. 2nd Not sure if I'm from the old school but if something is wrong (not to boot 2 x's in the same order) what happened to compensating your customer? Maybe an I'm sorry for your inconvenience, the wedding cookies are on us (5.95) or here's a coupon for next time. I don't feel it's up to the customer to ask for compensation.

Very friendly and accommodating staff, but the food was sadly nothing special. I was disappointed considering their location had a sign voting it best Italian food. It wasn't bad, but far from the best.

I stopped by here to check it out one fine Sunday. It was slightly busy, seemed like a lot of patrons really just sitting down having some drinks and appetizers. The lady at the counter was extremely frazzled and seemed very much so more concerned with everything else than helping me. Pretty displeasing, felt very rushed to make a decision. I ordered a Napoleon and an eclair. The cream inside both of them was very lumpy. Gross, on the napoleon the puff pastry was soggy, the fondant design on top was sloppy. The sloppy, lumpy, soggy state of the Napoleon mirrored the state of the "bakery/ restaurant" would never come here again. Can bake better at home.

I wanted to enjoy this cute eatery that used to be the Wheat Ridge Dairy. Service was good food was fine but the atmosphere was boring, tired and in need of improvement. The place appears dirty because it's great need of an upgrade paint flooring window treatments tables chairs booths etc. What was once good pizza and fresh in the morning sitting out for all to see old and unappetizing. All it tells you is that you if you order pizza is that you will get a warmed up leftover. The place is in need of a Robert Irvine Restaurant Impossible makeover.

I've never sat down to eat at Vincenza's but have gotten take out twice. The first time around, I got a bucket of pasta to go. The coupon I had gave me the pasta, 5 pieces of meat, and a loaf of bread for $20. I thought it was a pretty good deal, though I have no idea what the normal price of that bucket was. The pasta bucket was huge, so we had leftovers for a couple of days (bonus!). While we did enjoy the food, I figure that the bucket's normal price is at least $5 more (who knows, because they don't post those numbers on their storefront or website), which I think is a little steep for spaghetti. The second time around I went in for pastries. I ended up with 4 mini cannolis and 4 other cake-like items (ie: tiramisu). My small complaint about the tiramisu is that it was more like tiramisu cake than real tiramisu. I don't think there were any lady fingers in the dessert. It still tasted good but I was bummed about the lady fingers. I enjoyed the pastries we had but could not forget how surprised I was when it rang up to $30 at the register. I'll probably get a spaghetti bucket from Vincenza's again sometime if I can get a good coupon in the mail. The bakery items were good but I didn't feel they were quite worth the price they charge.

They have a large banner in front of their register claiming that they were "voted best Italian bakery & voted best Italian restaurant," though by whom it doesn't say. Some might call the decor quaint, but I found it seedy/shabby. I ordered the Italian sausage sandwich/panini or w/e.. Which also claimed to be voted best. It was mediocre. The sausage and toppings were tasty, but skimpy for the amount of bread, which would have benefited greatly from a quick trip through the toaster. The tiny cup of minestrone on the side was decent, but overall the portions were paltry given the price. My daughter did very much enjoy her linguine, however, I've seen her go at a plate of barilla and prego with as much gusto. I thought their sauce was watery. Service was slow, despite having two waitresses working and only one other table to serve. They were out of coca-cola, and the $2.25 they charge for drinks is steep imo considering the overall quality of the food/setting. I'm surprised by all of the 4+ star reviews.

I've been going to Vincenza's for about 7 years -- usually on a twice-annually basis. This visit was lacking, and given it was 12:00 p.m. and only two tables were in the restaurant, other may be seeing the decline. No one said anything to us upon arriving (despite three women standing behind the counter chatting). Finally, one of them said to seat ourselves. Once seated, we ordered - food arrived quickly. Olive oil was clear - which was odd and the place is filthy - especially the ceiling fans (one of which had no working lights and missing light bulbs) and the duct work -- when dust bunnies the size of grapes are caked on the ducts, and the electrical cords are covered in dust, it concerns me the quality standards in the kitchen may also be lacking. The food was good, though the minestrone soup lacked a lot of flavor and was really bland. We ordered two Pignoli (or pine nut cookies; of course, the server had no idea what Pignoli's were despite their traditional name) for the road, which arrived and were covered with, wait for it, pecans. Ummmm, pine nut cookies should have pine nuts and substituting them for cheaper nuts is unacceptable.

5 stars for the pastries/baked goods, and only 3 for their other food. I usually stop in for a piece of their raspberry tiramisu (which is frickin fantastic), but once (and only once) we went for dinner. As I do when I go to a new restaurant, I asked the server what she recommended, she told me, and I ordered it since it was something I liked too. Sidenote: When I ask a server what they like, I'm not asking what OTHER customers like. People, as we all know, are sheep and would probably eat their own crap if it were served to them on a pretty plate with a nice garnish. I want YOUR opinion because you work there and I assume you've tried most of the dishes and can tell me what your restaurant does well! Okay, phew, I feel better now. Anyway, I enjoyed my server-recommended meal and the hubs got plain spaghetti and meatballs. How do you screw this up? I don't know. But my husband will eat anything and he didn't really care for their 'sketti. Going on Tuesday nights for their cheap all-you-can-eat 'sketti nights would be a lot more enticing if their spaghetti were better. The sauce was plain and bland and I wouldn't order it, either! Another complaint- they keep their cannoli filled in the case. The problem with this is that once the cannoli shell is filled, it starts to get soggy, the soggier the longer it sits. Most reputable Italian places will fill the cannoli fresh for you to be sure that it doesn't get soggy. Vincenza's doesn't, and that makes me sad. Their cannoli are pretty good, but I won't order them again. I don't want pastry that's been setting in a case for a day or two!

I guess the first thing I should comment on is the lack of flies. I was nervous to eat here after reading all the reviews that mentioned flies. I left out that info to my husband when we decided to grab dinner Friday night. However everyone else was right about the tempting bakery case you see right when you walk in the door. I'm not a huge sweets or baked goods person but I immediately lusted over the strawberry shortcake cups and chocolate-covered cheesecake slices. But we saved that for the end. We started with delicious fresh bread with olive oil and balsamic (just perfect sprinkled with a little salt), a Moretti beer and glass of Chianti. I don't love Chianti but felt the need to order it in this homey Italian setting especially since I thought I wanted to order something classic and red-sauced. I asked our waitress to help me decide between the spicy pasta diavolo or the baked penne and instead she steered me toward a linguini dish topped with garlic, butter, capers and tomatoes. I was pretty sure I wanted one of my other two picks but she said the linguini was a perennial customer favorite so I went with it. Curt ordered the chicken parmigiana that came with a side of penne in a simple red sauce. We also shared a greek salad so huge, it could have fed four! But being the cucumber, tomato, olive and feta loving eaters that we are, we finished every last bite. Only complaint was that the green olives with pits were a little soft, perhaps old. My husband liked his chicken but was not impressed with his penne and sauce. I tried it and it was exactly what I was expecting. Maybe a little plain since we tend to go overboard when making our own red sauce at home, but I liked the simplicity that I sometimes miss when we are left to our own devices. My linguini was delicious too, heavy on the garlic and butter, and so rich I could only eat half. I was glad I went with the suggestion. In spite of being stuffed to the gills, we shared a slice of cheesecake from the case. The last disappointment - it was warm! On a hot, muggy, stormy, humid day, it didn't quite hit the spot and we couldn't finish it. Also, I thought I noticed on our bill that it was $9. Maybe I'm wrong but it seemed pretty high (prices weren't listed before ordering). Our server was friendly and if I lived in the neighborhood and didn't like to cook as much as I do, I could see coming here again. It was casual and pretty tasty. Nothing wowed me but it exceeded my expectations for sure based on many of these reviews. Unfortunately for Vincenza's, I like to fancy myself a budding Giada so I cook quite a load of pasta at home already. It's not typically what I crave when I eat out. But this was a good reminder of what basic, family Italian cooking is all about.

Wheat Ridge is filled with Italian bakery and deli places that have some unspoken procedures you have to find out. Do you order at the counter? Do you sit down? It turns out Vincenza's has a small buffet in the back, next to the kitchen and an electrical transformer. I'm pretty sure the buffet is more or less identical to their catering: deli sandwiches, a few pasta dishes with lots of olive oil, salad with vinaigrette, prosciutto-wrapped spinach, and even some sicilian pizza. Vincenza's is less about tomato sauce and more about olive oil, to put it broadly. All of it was tasty and refills on my iced tea came quickly. I also got some biscotti to go from the bakery. While a solid step above what you'd find at a coffeeshop, I've had much better biscotti in my life. So stop in for some fresh Italian pastries and lunch. They even serve beer and wine.

Nooo thank you! The booths are really old and ripped up, the floor was dirty, and everything was just...old. When we asked for a kids menu they looked at us like we had 3 heads and said "Uh, I guess we could do like a half order of spahetti or something." ??? The food was totally bland and the meal was ruined by an italian crooner walking around to each table, holding a microphone in one hand and a tip jar in the other. Tacky.

Solid Place in North Denver. I don't come here nearly enough because of all the other options in the area, but Vincenza's is a great little place at the North end of Denver. I especially like the bakery out front. it's a great place if you are looking for a good family restaurant without the high price you find elsewhere in the neighborhood.

I agree with all the reviews, the good and the bad regarding appearance. Cute, but food was everywhere. It was very reminiscent of the small bakeries of upstate NY. I did not have a meal there, but found this place via another website (totally not even food related). I special ordered a cake for my husbands birthday. We have not been able to get an Italian Cream Rum cake since we moved out here. For $15 I got a cake that was enough to serve 20!! The basics were spot on, but was missing almonds and the custard between layers of cake and cream. However, the other two components (cake and frosting) - The whipped cream frosting was to die for and the cake was tender and tasty. I have no qualms about trying more stuff there. I did walk out of there with a lobster tail, but it didn't survive the drive home - mostly cuz I ate it. :)

Dined here the other day and I cannot see how this place has so many great reviews. The service was slow and we were the only people in the place. Plus the whole time our waitress was flirting with the cook, it was really unprofessional. Since we were the only ones there we could hear every word she was saying. I prefer not to hear stuff like that while I am eating, for I may puke. Thank you very much. The bakery items are over priced, and it has an allover dirty feel to the place. The pasta was okay, but just average. And it really disgusts me when I see the food that other people may eat (pizza) just sitting out on the counter top not even close to being covered with flies hovering around it. Gross

This restaurant has so much potential, starting with the very cool building. It's so cool looking from the outside, but upon walking in, it looked like they were in the process of moving out. It looked disorganized and there was a lot of open space. We each had sandwiches and iced teas, which were just fine, nothing to write home about. My date asked some specifics about the beautiful pastries, but the server wasn't able to give any information. We chose a few things, which looked good and tasted just fine. To me, this restaurant was just A-OK, but could be so much more with a little more ambiance and attention to detail.

The service was excellent and the bread was good- nice and fresh. The inside looks like it is permanently in a stage of construction. Have of the place isn't functional and kind of used for storage and you have to walk through this to get to the back patio which felt like a bar patio. I went looking for the restrooms and was about to walk into what was obviously a customer restroom when a guy told me that I didn't want to go into THAT bathroom, and to use the one up front. Kind of unsettling. Also, there was a guy singing and walking around to the tables (brat pack style) up front. Some may like this, but it was awkward for us (which was why we opted for the patio- that was advertised as being open but wasn't actually set up). Our entrees were overpriced and mediocre. I could have made the same at home for less than $3. For little old Italian places, I'll take Patsy's homemade spaghetti any day- and it's cheaper! This was box pasta. The baked goods up front looked great and like I said, everyone was friendly. I wouldn't go back for dinner but I would for the bread!

Me and my wife were driving looking for a place to have lunch, and we came across this place. Walked in and was pretty empty, so we got nervous. As soon as we sat down they greeted us with fresh baked bread and oil. Excellent start. The bread was fantastic. I ordered the Mussels in spicy red sauce, and these mussels were the most tender mussels i have ever eaten in my life, and the sauce was perfect. very flavorful, not too acidic. Perfect to dip my bread in. My wife ordered the sausage cannoli (she is a very picky eater), and she said it was the best sausage ever. I tried it, and agreed. The staff was very friendly. I would recommend anyone try this place. You wont be disappointed.

I'm adding to the one star reviews here. Dirty, yes, watery sauce, yes, cold pasta, yes, overpriced, yes. Oh, and one more dirty, just for good measure. Nice waitress just can't make up for the rest. Gordon Ramsay, I have a restaurant for you!

We live by this restaurant and had driven by a number of times and gave it shot finally last night, Valentine's Day. Should of got the the clue right away when the place was maybe half full on the biggest "dinner out" night of the year. Outside looks cute, inside needs lots of help. Run down, bad decor. But that might of been the best part of our dinner. You walk in an you smell nothing. An Italian restaurant that doesn't smell like a warm loaf of bread and garlic is probably not a good one. Sat there for 10 minutes without being acknowledged, then our server took our drink order and said she'd bring out some bread. Another 10 minutes we got bread, our drinks and we ordered. My wife ordered the Chicken Parmesan, which on the menu claims that it is reported to be the best in Denver. I got the special which was pork shank with pasta and the house ragu. Our review of the food was that it was something I would expect at a Furr's cafeteria. Just bland. Everything. But the house red sauce or Ragu as they call it was tasteless and watery. Nothing more to say. We asked for parmesan cheese when our food was delivered to at least add some flavor that way. The waitress said she would try and find some and probably have to steal it from some other customers...again, an Italian restaurant that has to TRY and find parmesan cheese for their food. Alas, we never got the parmesan cheese. We had to ask for our bill. And we witnessed the apparent owner not only sit idly by as the wait staff struggled and did not do anything except to berate our waitress (who was horrible) and threaten her that if she start taking care of this one table in 2 minutes, she needed to leave. So that's that. Not going back. I truly wonder where some of the framed reviews that say the place was amazing came from, they were over 4 years old, so maybe the parents of the current owners started it, left it to them and now it sucks. And sucks bad. Won't return.

I was driving by and noticed this place so I stopped in just to see what it was like inside because we've been looking for a good Italian restaurant. I walked out with a few desserts and less about $21. The nice girl behind the counter (Brianna) gave me a free cookie that had pecans on top. She said they just started making those again. That was the best cookie I've probably ever had and I wish I tried it while standing there and not when I got home because I would have purchased more. I got a slice of cheesecake and a huge piece of tiramisu which I thought was also wonderful. While I was there I met Greg the owner: he told me they were open for about 8 years now. I told him I wanted to come back for dinner and asked him about Yelp and if he's heard of it. (Not sure why I asked that but I love this site!) He told me yes and there was "a bad review" on here but I haven't taken the time to come read them until now. My husband and I have date night tonight and we are planning to go to Vincenza's and a movie but now that I'm reading all these really bad reviews I'm tempted to not go here and waste my money because I want a really special night tonight with my man. We did go back a second time to buy dessert and he went with me and even commented on how expensive the desserts were. Now I have to either decide to go try it out and risk a crappy dinner or find somewhere else to go tonight. I do recommend this place for desserts!! The pizza thing a couple of people mentioned was true. Although I didn't see any flies at that time I wasn't too sure about everyone breathing on the food people consume. I would recommend to them to put it inside the case. It was the biggest pizza I've ever seen and if the case isn't big enough to put inside maybe they should make the pizza a bit smaller. I'm sure the patrons wouldn't mind a smaller slice if it's cleaner.

This place is great for what it is. Please do not expect an elegant overdone atmosphere here. That is not the point of this place. This is a Bakery that does food too. I am not really a fan of Italian. Its not because I don't like it. But that most of the time it can bore me. American Italian has become more of a formula of mediocrity than a celebration of a culture that it hails from. Vincenza's is different. It reminds me of some of the mom and pop Italian places that I knew from upstate NY. There are tables, they are plain. The cases for the pastries and breads really are the biggest draw for your eyes. The tables are in front so you can't help but drool. There is another dining room in the back. But I have not sat back there. Seems I come in the off times. They have wine specials that are very reasonably priced to accompany the food. The wine list changes as the owner dictates. Which is nice because I get to try new things. The pastries here - can be a little pricey, but I don't care. There is a huge variety of things that you will not find at most other places. They have cookies apon cookies and fresh baked bread to go with it. The cannoli is heavenly here. They use real cream in the pastries rather than the chemical garbage that passes off as cream in most modern supermarket pastries. the apricot and raspberry pastry cookies are light and flaky. Be sure to go there with some extra cash to burn because your eyes will start to tell you to buy more than you can eat. Have no shame that is a good thing to give into. The food here - the menu here is short but sweet. I have had the eggplant parmesan here. It was one of the better parmesans that I have had in Colorado. The sauce tasted wonderful and complimented the acidity of the eggplant perfectly. On another occasion I was able to order their puttanesca sauce. From what I gather this more of a special than a staple there. So get it when you can. Puttanesca in Italian translates into "whore sauce". Meaning they put everything into it. If you don't know what it is check the link. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pu… Its quite a salty sauce due to the egregious amounts of capers and olives, but that is just the nature of the beast. This was smothered over the veil. Which was cooked rather well too. Vincenza's Italian give it a whirl, but don't expect a foo foo place. They make good food and that is the reason I go there.

I first discovered Vincenza's while wedding dress shopping with a friend up in Wheat Ridge. After a long day of running all over town, the group of girlfriends searching high and low for a dress were almost torn apart by hunger and crankiness... Enter Vincenza's. We literally pulled in to Vincenza's a car full of cranky women and left with full stomachs and happiness! My favorite part of the visit was dessert - we ordered canolis and when we went to pay for them, the sweet owner of Vincenza's said "Canolis not to pay - canolis to eat!" Ah... bliss. I have visited Vincenza's a few times since that first day, most recently yesterday for lunch. I had the vegetarian eggplant panini yesterday with the homemade minestrone soup and it was delish! I was with two girlfriends, and each enjoyed their meals as well (sausage & pepper panini and chicken Parmesan panini). I ordered a canoli to go and again they didn't charge me, which was awesome. It just gives a little of the locally owned flavor of the place, in my opinion. I will visit Vincenza's again. Although it may not be the hippest place in town, they definitely offer delicious homemade food and the bread and desserts are out of this world. Enjoy!

I have read other Yelpers' posts about the sit down dining experiences here and can't speak to that. I can, however, vouch for the bakery and the pizza. I needed to get some treats to put out for a meeting and gave this place a try. I got a few of the mini-cannoli, a few marzipan cookies and a few (I don't know what they're called) bite-sized apricot filling pastries. They were all great. The cannoli shells were crisp and the filling was sweet, but not too sweet. The marzipan cookies were soft and had great almond flavor. The apricot thingys had a crisp, flaky shell and delicious filling. They were a hit at the meeting and were gobbled up! So, I then when back to get a loaf of ciabatta for dinner last night. Nice crust on the bread, with a soft inside that didn't have the big bubbles that leave a hole in the bread when you slice it. WAAAYYY better than the ciabatta you get at the grocery store. It was early afternoon when I got the loaf and was hungry, so I tried a slice of their Sicilian pizza while I was there. The sauce was full of big chunks of tomato, it had plenty 'o cheese and the crust was lightly crisp on the outside but chewy on the inside, not crunchy through and through, the way a Sicilian pie should be. I get what people are saying about the decor, but this place doesn't strike me as one that's trying to be fancy. It seems they're happy just being old skool. If that's their thing, it's fine by me.

I live in Wheat Ridge and have purchased breads, pastries & pizza hundreds of times, and have eaten about 2 dozen meals here. For take-out baked goods, I say 5 stars. For a hearty breakfast, I say 4 stars. For dinner, not withstanding the delicious toasted bread with dipping oil, i can't give them better than 2 stars. Their ciabatta is wonderful. My daughter in Fort Collins expects me to bring a loaf every time i go there. The pizza is pricey, but a treat to take home and reheat on a pizza stone to put some crunch back in the crust. The service is friendly and prompt. The singer on weekends I find painful, but he tries soooo hard. I feel awkward to have him stand at the table and seranade us. But, lots of folks love him, and you might, too. The food is only so-so. The sauces are nothing special. Seriously, you can make better at home. Breakfast is my favorite meal at Vicenza. I go there when i want something hearty. Also the coffee is good. The decor is so very very sad. They simply must get someone with a good eye in there and spend some money. The two new coolers in the front dining room seem to belong in a 7-11. Even a bad, cliche Italian decor would be an improvement over the exposed air ducts.

This place has changed a lot over the years, and I think I liked it better back then, but it's still good. Now it's more restaurant than bakery or deli, though the bakery is still pretty decent. Before, it was more of a bakery and market with just a few tables. I like coming here around the holidays to see what seasonal cookies and desserts they have, but I usually prefer eating at other places nearby. They have greatly expanded their menu beyond the usual sandwiches and a couple of pizzas, so they get credit for that. Full marks for the famous giant veggie pizza, which I believe is something like 40 inches across. One slice is $6 but it is more than enough for a lunch. Now there are also a bunch of pasta dishes, several more panini, and other daily lunch specials as well, so there's something for everyone. I enjoyed the half-and-half pasta dish I had recently, with cheese ravioli and linguini. In the bakery, they've got a wide assortment of pastries, breads, and cookies, and the seasonal treats are very good as well. It's always a fun place to visit when you want something Italian for the holidays.

this place looks totally cool from the outside, but the inside is not. it's ok, but with the back parking being pretty big they should consider a big outdoor area. and really just more money invested in the decor for sure. we went pretty early in the evening so our service was great. our waitress was really helpful and even graciously walked me through the huge pastry counter by telling me ingredients and recommending her favorites. for dinner i had the eggplant parm. it was ok, but seemed like the cook had been heavy handed with the oil. the sauce was also a little bland, but a little extra red pepper flakes went a long way. actually my left overs were better the next day since i took apart the layers and broiled them. i'll give this place another shot for sure, but i'm trying the pizza or the sammies next time and leaving more room for pastries. those are the bomb and if you're looking for something special, you'll probably find it here.

The pasta here is mediocre at best. The salad was wilted and brown but the dressing was good. I wasnt offered a choice of dressing so I guess the balsalmic is all they serve. The bread they serve is very tastey. We ordered cheesecake to go.. BLAH! It was covered in chocolate which isnt necessary if it is good. It tasted like a mixture of chalk and old cream cheese. It was the worst cheesecake ever. Server was brand new, friendly but should not have been on her own. She had several personal phone calls on cell phone in close enough proximity that we could hear every word. Don't think we will return.

We checked this place out for breakfast a few weekends ago, and enjoyed it so much we were back the next weekend! They had great prices on the basics (eggs, toast, and hashbrowns or polenta cakes for under $4) but we were most impressed by the Italian-inspired breakfast selections. The first time my husband and I both ordered a breakfast skillet with Italian sausage, made specially for Vincenza's from a shop in the old Italian neighborhood, and it was awesome. I wish I would have chosen the polenta cakes instead of the potatoes, so we had to go back the next weekend so I could stop stealing polenta off his plate! It is pan fried, full of garlic and a few other herbs, and has a lovely texture. The toast was great, as it should be from a bakery. We went home with a loaf of ciabatta and a few little cannolis, and both were fantastic. We came home with a round loaf and the bigger cannolis the next time, and for some reason the texture of the bigger ones wasn't as heavenly as the small guys. I can't vouch for the place as a lunch or dinner joint, but for a bakery/deli, they sure serve a delicious brunch, and we'll certainly be back soon!

I wish I were the manager of this restaurant. I would have this place spit shined into shape in no time. My husband likes to do the lunch buffet once in a while. The waitresses are always nice, but the place is dirty! Why doesn't anyone that works here notice the dead flies on the windowsills and the dirty hand and finger prints all over the glass bakery cases? It's been this way for YEARS! I could care less about getting serenaded by someone. Just clean this place up. Paint it, get some new booths, and act like you care to be a restaurant. You need to have independent people taste your food, too. What is not good should not be on the menu. I think some of their menu items are consistently good, but it's hard to like a place that is always dingy/dirty.

I was very disappointed with our dinner at Vincenza's. Not-so-clean dining room, bizarre scary waiter, icky food, and attitude at the baked goods counter. My dining companions asked to sit in the front of the house, as they had Mr. Lechuga there -- he's the big band singer -- and we were supposed to be catching up on old times. It didn't matter, because he had a cordless mic and came to us, singing Chicago. No problem. I found it fun and cheesy, if only a bit loud overall. But when we went to sit down, there was a big pile of food on my chair. I brushed it off, and the fabric underneath the crumbs was really dingy. Our vinyl tablecloth had blue ink all over it. Simple decor is fine by me, but grime is a different story. The menu offered no pizza. There was one huge, congealed slice sitting out on the counter. We asked our waiter if there was any specials that evening. He sort of made a long noise, and mumbled that he didn't know, walked away, and eventually came back to announce that there were no specials. When he brought the wine, the bottle was already open, and he simply started sloshing it into four glasses and all over the table, which he didn't bother to try to wipe up. The appetizer meatballs were the worst I've ever had. They were rubbery AND gritty. They were bland. Ugh. The red sauce they were in was edible but far from the greatest. While eating my lasagna, I hit something that my fork could not cut through. I pulled it out of the lasagna and it was a cube of some kind. I even tried to cut through it again, and my fork just bounced off. I really can't explain what it was. Last week's meatballs sliced into large cubes?? I decided I'd had enough lasagna. My honey's Chicken Marsala (he decided to forego anything that had the red sauce on it) was just as bad or worse. He swears that the mushrooms on top were from the can, as were the green beans served on the side. The best part of the evening was trying to decide if our waiter was a) totally wasted, b) recently released from prison and this is his first job on the outside, or c) about to snap. He disappeared for a really long time and I was actually thinking he was getting his gun out of his car. Still, I wasn't ready to totally give up on the place. After all, you can get cookies to go. So I waited patiently by the bakery counter and eventually someone came and stood directly across the counter from me and looked at me. I took that to mean that she was ready to box some goodies for me. I got a few cannolis, and she closed the box and walked away. I called her back and pointed at some cookies. She rolled her eyes and sighed at every request. I asked her what the name of one pastry was and she pulled a Leonardo DiCaprio on me. (You know how in every movie he has the same facial tic accompanied by a stiff-fingered brush of the face to show stress?) She didn't know what it was called, and I guess I freaked her out by asking. If you're going to be a bakery/restaurant, cheers to you. But then you shouldn't be surprised when people want baked goods! I didn't get it. The high notes: the coconut macaroon, no matter how perfectly fabulous, and the bread served with dinner, while quite yummy and crusty, just aren't enough to bring me back. Ever.

We used to come here when Wheatridge Dairy occupied the space. Their food, desserts, and especially their ice cream will be missed. We came to Vincenza's for lunch on a recom. from a friend. We sat in the back dining area where they had a buffet of sorts for lunch going on ( I looked it over and decided to order off of the menu instead). I had a sausage sandwich that was okay but not great and my wife had the lasagna which also was decent. On our way out we did buy a loaf of bread and a slice of pizza (not on the menu?). the focacia bread was excellent (although expensive) but the pizza was again just okay (the slice was huge but not very flavorful and the crust was cooked well but soggy from the toppings). We do miss the Wheatridge Dairy.

The only reason to come here is for the bread and cookies. Their ciabatta is super tasty and dirt cheap. The rest of the food is uninteresting, especially when you consider that they may have just given you food poisoning. The last time we were there waiting in line to pay, customers were shooing flies off the congealed pizza (as accurately described in another review) sitting on the counter. Additionally, I saw five or six of the calzones that we just ate sitting out as well. Do they seriously cook everything before people order it and then just let it sit out until it's ordered? Yuck! I wonder when the last time the health inspectors were there.

I have been here a few times. It's near the office and the food is OK. Last visit they got my order wrong. My co-worker and I ordered a cold cut sandwich. The sandwich was missing the ham. I told our waitress/co-owner. She played dumb for a minute and did not say sorry. She brought us a 50cent pastry to compromise for the mis-order. We did not take that well. It seems the customer is 2nd and profit is 1st. Weill never go back again.

This was absolutely the worst dining experience I have ever had, and I eat out a lot and am usually not too picky. We were hopeful when we arrived because there were a fair number of people there on a Friday night and Mr. Lechuga was singing Frank Sinatra tunes, which was gloriously cheesy and fun. But then we were ignored by our waiter and the other wait staff for a long time and finally had to flag them down to order. The menu boasts the "best eggplant parmisan in Denver" so I ordered that. We also ordered the Diavlo pasta. We were brought our drinks and salads and a plate of olive oil and vinegar but no bread. We finally had to ask to get the bread, which was very good. The salads were drowning in dressing, making half of it unedible. The mains seemed to take a long time to appear and I was shocked at how bad the eggplant parmisan was -- I have eaten a lot of eggplant parmisan and this was the most disgusting and inedible dish of it I've ever been served. The sauce was extremely salty, and the eggplant was tough -- like it was both under-ripe and underbaked. Really, my husband never complains and even he agreed we had to send it back, and I'd never sent a dish back at a restaurant in my entire life. It took almost 10 minutes to flag down the waiter to tell him how bad the food was (he never check in on us, even though we needed more water and bread and we wanted parmesan and red pepper -- something other tables were offered who had better waiters than ours). I ended up getting the penne broccoli which took a while to arrive and when it did it was in the most bland, disgusting white sauce I have ever had. I would have been better off with a jar of cheap alfredo sauce. The food here was seriously some of the most disgusting food I've ever had. I would actually prefer hospital or cafeteria food to this swill. Never again!

You come here for the food, not the atmosphere. The Eggplant Parmesan is the best! I love their Ciabatta bread and cookies too. I agree with the other reviewers that the service could be better and the place could be cleaner. The restaurant atmosphere is average - if you want nice pictures on the wall and Italian lessons in the bathroom, you should go to Macaroni Grill instead. This place is all about the great food.

I give 4.5 stars to the bakery, 3 for the food, and 2 for the ambience. The baked goods are awesome and I frequently pick up boxes of cannolis, florentines, and other goodies to take to potlucks and parties. They are the best I have found in Denver and good enough that I haven't bothered to keep searching. They actually provide many of the desserts for Parisi's. The bread is great and we usually buy a loaf to go. Everything I have had at the restaurant has been good (3- 4 meals). Not as good as Patsy's or Jordano's, but I was definitely happy with it. Not worth driving out of your way for unless you want to get dessert and/bread. Service has been varied - everything from free a loaf of bread because they made too much, to seeming irritated that I want to buy cookies when they are busy. It is slightly dingy and dirty. The booths in the back need to be thrown out.

I think the owners must live in this place as even during the crazy blizzard of 2006 they stayed open. They have a great 'rotating' wine selection which I think is made of wines the owners pick out. Everything I've had here is quite tasty and I always get the muscles. Highly recommended.

This place is disgusting. I'm sorry. I feel bad for giving a single star, but I think that even Fazoli's is better than this place. I had the clams and linguine and my dining partner had the fettuccine shrimp alfredo. The waiter brought out bread with oil and vinegar. The bread was pretty good, but as soon as our entrees came (it felt too quick) I looked at mine..... clams were dried out like they had been sitting pre-cooked for probably all day and were tough and rubbery. The noodles were mushy and hard at the same time. Gross. And EW! The white wine sauce tasted more like the day old water the clams had been in. Didn't even finish 1/4th of it. Pretended I was full......... Anyway, on to the alfredo. It was more like doctored up Safeway brand sauce from a jar. I will say that the shrimp on top of the pasta were big, seasoned and cooked well. Thank God we had a coupon for buy one get one free entree otherwise I would have been pissed. 47 bucks for two entrees, a Peroni, soda and a canoli to go pre-coupon. I'm eating the canoli right now. It's decent, but they put these weird bright lepruchan dyed pistachios on them. I will never eat here again. I guess they should scale down their operation and stick to being a bakery.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
